The section of the Front Range Trail Between Woodmen Road and Downtown (Bijou St)

Just a quick note about the trail. A lot of work is being done along the section just south of Mark Dabling and I25. It looks like they have put a very large culvert to funnel water off the shopping center to the creek...the bad part is that it crosses the trail.

I do not know if they plan to reroute the trail to cross the culvert so keep an eye on this and if anyone has addition info on this please post it. I have not found anything yet in my searching of the net.

Update 2008 10 07

Well to answer my own question about how the trail is going to be routed, I ran this section today and the trail has been closed at the bridge near Mark Dabling.

There was fresh concrete starting from the east side of the bridge up to the culvert overpass and some grading done the other side of the overpass but no concrete as yet. The old trail has been removed in this section and large rocks put down to form a water channel to the creek.

Unfortunately, they decided that the users of the trail are not important and route the trail traffic onto Mark Dabling and back onto the trail at Garden of the Gods. It would seem like this would endanger anyone trying to use the trail in this area by putting them up with the traffic. I would have been smarter in my opinion to leave the old trail (maybe with some dirt) until the new trail sections were completed first but...
