Spent the morning on Spruce Meadows. It was a beautiful day and the views from the bluffs were awesome. I would guess visibility was at least 10 miles and most likely more.
The trail is in excellent condition. Just a couple places had some washout but nothing too serious. A lot of work has been done since I last did this trail. The approach from the parking area has been improved significantly and is now a long series of switchbacks instead of a straight climb. Part of the old climb is still there if you want to shorten the course a little.
Work has been done to the parking area and looks like more is underway. The route that I took was just about 5 miles. I encountered a mix of runners, hikers, bikers and horse riders along the way.
I will be updating the website with new maps when I get a chance to dump the data. I will also need to update the writeup
There are plenty of signs, but there is some places that could be confusing and send you off on the wrong trails. I used the breadcrumb feature of my watch to confirm some of the turns when heading out.
I saw one person walking back to the parking area along the road, I think she took a wrong turn and headed down to the spruce meadows trail, so markings are not perfect.
Ran the Spruce Meadows / Spruce Mountain lollipop from the Spruce meadows parking lot on 7/3. The trail is in fantastic shape. The prairie grasses and other greenery are growing like mad. Someone had mowed a bit of the high grass down along Spruce Meadows trail, which helped. The trail up the mountain and the loop on top are nice, with just a few washouts from all the rain. Go enjoy this one as it is usually a few degrees cooler than CS in the mornings.
