It is spring time...Watch out for emerging Bears

Postby farrunner on Sun Apr 13, 2008 8:15 am

During a recent run on the Ute Pass Trail, I noticed some recent Bear Scat on the trail. It reminded me that the Bears should be emerging from winter hibernation and the scat is a clear indication that this look to be the case.

On the Ute trail since it is rarely visited, this could be a problem but even on heavy used trails such as the Santa Fe, I have see evidence of bear scat if there are berry bushes or scrub oak for the bears to feed on.

Here is a coupe of links to suggestions on how to handle such situations:

A quick web search can provide more sites and information.
