During a recent run on the Ute Pass Trail, I noticed some recent Bear Scat on the trail. It reminded me that the Bears should be emerging from winter hibernation and the scat is a clear indication that this look to be the case.
On the Ute trail since it is rarely visited, this could be a problem but even on heavy used trails such as the Santa Fe, I have see evidence of bear scat if there are berry bushes or scrub oak for the bears to feed on.
