The trail around Palmer lake is snow covered and during this warmer time, sloppy. There is probably about 1 - 2 inches of semi slush on the trail. Because the trail is crushed rock, means that it is not muddy but it is either semi slushy or soggey depending on how much sun.

Typically, the 3 miles section between Palmer lake and Monument will tend to be soft and wet until late in the spring during any warm spell.
